I've officially finished my first year of graduate school! It's been an amazing year full of new experiences, friends, and adventures. I was an intern at 108 Contemporary where I assisted with the installation and de-installation of the exhibitions and other various administrative tasks. I took a Copyright in the Digital Age course in the law school on campus. I learned so much about copyright and how it effects museums on a regular basis. I took a history course that kicked my butt. Finally, I wrote a successful grant to the Weber Foundation in my Grant Writing for Museums Course. The grant was for the Gilcrease Museum to hire a student intern for the summer to transcribe documents from the Charles M. Russell Research Collection (Britzman). I ended up being the student intern hired for the job, so I will be in Tulsa for a majority of the summer working on this project.
Next semester, I will be taking the Collections Management, Conservation, and NAGPRA courses. I will be spending a lot of time at the Gilcrease Museum and on campus. I have accepted a Graduate Assistant position in Special Collections in the university library. I can't wait to see what this summer and next year has in store!
