Today, was an extremely productive day. I started applying to a couple different graduate programs, which was terrifying yet empowering. I still have a lot to get done for the applications, but I have taken the first step of starting the application process.
I also got a lot done on one of my larger watercolor pieces. It is starting to come together nicely. We are talking about them in class on Monday and I am excited to see what everyone else has done. Finally, I got my inking assignments done TWO days early! I normally finish them the day before they are due, but this time I was able to get them done extra early! They aren't my favorite pieces, but they will do for the assignment. I don't have a big enough scanner to scan them in at my apartment, so I have to take them into the lab. My goal was to get them done early so I would have plenty of time to scan them in. I normally scan them in at home, but the pieces were bigger for this assignment. This is the tonal under painting of the watercolor piece that I'm working on. I wish I could keep it like this, but the next step is to add color over the top. I'm hoping the piece doesn't become muddy, since the color and tonal under painting will start to blend together.
Here are just a few of my favorite images from the American Royal horse show this weekend!

My professor gave us four different animals to sketch out during class to practice the technique. I choose to do the buffalo, because I like all the texture in its fur! According to my professor I went about the dry brushing completely different than everyone else in the class and I am okay with that! Most students added the dry brushing to certain areas of their drawing, where I did my entire drawing with dry brushing. I normally paint using a dry brush technique, so it felt normal for me to draw it that way. CLICK HERE

Yell Like Hell is a dance/cheer competition put on during Homecoming week at Pittsburg State University. Different organizations on campus compete against each other. My sorority, Alpha Gamma Delta, placed second this year! |
