Out of all the seasons, fall is my absolute favorite.
In my traditional watercolor class we did some sketches of gourds to celebrate it being fall. It was interesting trying to get the texture right, I definitely need to practice it more. Who knows what type of food we will paint next!

This weekend has been interesting to say the least. My horse, Dixie, came in the barn lame (limping) Friday morning. Everyone thought that she just had an abscess in her foot, but unfortunately that was not the case. The vet came to the conclusion that she had inflamed her stifle in her back right leg. When the vet did an ultra sound in the area she found fluid in the stifle, some chronic arthritis, and her meniscus also didn't look how it should have. There is still a chance that it could be an abscess, which would be so much better than an inflamed stifle, but only time will tell that. Dixie is going to be on stall rest for the next 4 months...you read that right...FOUR MONTHS. When the vet told me this, I freaked out a little bit. To say that Dixie hates being in her stall would be an understatement...she absolutely DESPISES IT. If you don't know what stall rest means, it's that she cannot go outside in her pasture...she has to stay in her stall and she can't be ridden either. Thankfully we can take her out to lightly walk and graze (eat grass), but no forced walking. The vet will come back in four months to re-evaluate her and decided what the next step is to helping her heal. Thankfully the barn I keep Dixie at is full of amazing people who are going to keep an eye on her and take her out to graze, so she doesn't go insane. My parents are also going to go out and take care of her for me, since I am away at school. By the time Dixie is off her stall rest I will have graduated college and be back at home and able to take care of her. Keep Dixie in your happy thoughts for me! |
